ONGOING STUDIES

Study title: A phase 3 randomized controlled study evaluating the efficacy of scalp cooling in patients undergoing systemic therapy.

Summery: Patients with breast cancer or ovarian cancer or lung cancer or other sites where these drugs are used undergoing either anthracycline or taxane-based chemotherapy will be included in this study. Traditionally these patients develop alopecia post-treatment. Scalp cooling devices are recommended for the prevention of alopecia however data from India is limited. Hence, we have planned this study where we will recruit 64 patients. Half will receive a scalp cooling device with systemic chemotherapy while another half will be treated with only systemic chemotherapy. The primary objective is to see whether the use of a scalp cooling device reduces the incidence of alopecia.
